Amnesty International joins other human
rights organizations in declaring that Israel is engaged in the
Crime of Apartheid, a crime against humanity.
This is huge.
While it is not news to Palestinians and their allies that Israel's systematic denial of Palestinian rights amounts to the crime of Apartheid, the fact it comes from the most respected human rights organization in the United States makes it the news of the year, if not the decade. Amnesty has chapters in hundreds of communities and colleges and universities. This is a new day for the struggle for Palestinian liberation and activism in the United States, including our own CD-2. Omar Assad murdered by Israeli military
Even elderly US citizens are subject to Israeli military brutality.
Human rights advocates reacted angrily Sunday to a leaked report suggesting that no Israeli soldiers are likely to be charged in connection with the fatal detention of elderly Palestinian-American man, Omar Assad, a US citizen who lived for years in Wisconsin, by occupation forces in a West Bank town in early January 2022.
Just as many acts of police brutality against people of color are done with impunity here in the US, we see the same disregard for human life in Israel.
